About Honaker Families
Hello and Welcome!
2008 Honaker Family Reunion - Honaker, Va.
ABOUT THIS WEBSITE:
This is a work in progress and while not current, it is good place to begin your
Honaker research. In Feb. 2007, I had a major computer crash and lost many files.
As of this latest upload I think (I hope) I have recovered the lost files and this
site should now be current with the Honaker Family in America book that was published
in 1998.
I will continue working on this site as I can. I need to add information from Tom
Hanlin who is maintaining the official files and tells me that we have added over
1,000 pages of information since the book was published.
The photographs on the site are mainly from the book, the Honaker Family Newsletters,
or copies of photos sent to me by other descendants
If you can provide additional information or photographs, please e-mail me through
the guestbook.
We have several mysteries and points of confusion. Over the next few weeks, I'll try
to put some of them together and post them with the next upload. They involve folks
like which George Washington Honaker belongs to whom and which Rebecca Honaker
married which Barrett fellow.
For up-to-date information on the Honaker Families, contact the National
Honaker Families Association at P.O. Box 3636, Alexandria, VA 22302-9998
If you are interested in purchasing a copy of "The Honaker Family in America",
order from the Association (address above). The book is 1,437 pages long and
traces the lineage of immigrant Hans Jacob's 15 children - many of them to the
present day. The cost of the book is $66.50 (plus $3 tax if mailed to
Virginia). There is also a CD-ROM supplement availablfe for $10 (1,200 pp.
now).
There is also a quarterly Honaker Family Newsletter for $15 annual
subscription.
To protect our children and our privacy, I had masked individuals who are
still living. So if you search under your own name, you won't find anything.
Best thing to do is search under the parent or grandparent who is deceased.
There are some drawbacks. Names are filed as spelled. That means that if the
name was spelled Honiker, that's how it's indexed - not Honaker.
I hope that this can be the beginning of a Honaker Family website that
everyone can enjoy and use.
If you connect to the Honaker families through any of the following names, you
may find more information at my other tribal page site. There is a link to
that site at the bottom of this page: Rasnake/Rasnick/Rasnic; McGlothlin; Patrick;
Jackson (and many others).
Feel free to e-mail me if you need anything.
